INTEREST REMAINS HIGH IN TAKHINI NORTH
WHITEHORSE – The City’s latest effort to get more residential land on the market was a great success, said Planning Manager Mike Gau.
“On October 8 the City opened bids on two large properties in the Takhini North subdivision and received bids that exceeded the City’s minimum asking price,” said Gau. “With this process now complete the City is preparing its final Takhini North lottery process that will take place later this fall.”
The bidding process on October 8th involved one multi-family property listed at a minimum price of $250,000 and a mixed-used commercial/residential property listed at a minimum bid price of $175,000. The winning bid on the multi-family property came in at $350,000 and the successful bid for the mixed-used commercial/residential property was $250,000.
Lottery packages for the final 30 single family lots and 12 duplex lots in Takhini North are now available at the Planning offices at 4210 4th Avenue and the scheduled lottery date is October 19th. Prices for single family lots range from $93,765 to $114,345 and prices for duplex lots range from $168,420 to $184,800.
“By providing housing opportunities in areas such as Takhini North people are able to live close to where they work and recreate,” said Sustainability Projects Manager Shannon Clohosey. “This reduces the City’s need to expand into areas further from the Downtown core as our City grows and makes alternative transportation options such as public transit more viable.”
