Yukon Crime Stoppers is a community-run association staffed by volunteers that is about protecting its residents from crime. It offers cash rewards for tips that lead to the arrest of individuals, recovery of stolen property or the seizure of illicit substances.

The City of Whitehorse is undertaking several environmental iniatives, such as Adopt-a-Stream, Habitat Conservation, Heritage Program and Watershed Management. The City has also been working on a long-term plan that makes recommendations for a new sustainable way to invest, build, and manage environmentally sustainable infrastructure for the City of Whitehorse.  The annual Council of the Federation Literacy Award was held in fall, 2008. Yukon Literacy Programs and other supporting associations make a big difference in the community.
